Get On The Bus unites children with their mothers and fathers in prison. We train and educate hundreds of volunteers and supporters throughout California and engage the media to raise awareness about the plight of children with a parent in prison. Get On The Bus advocates for the right of children to see, touch and talk to their parent who is incarcerated.
Over the last fourteen years, we’ve witnessed the power of Get On The Bus. We’ve seen visits ease the heartache suffered by children separated from their parents. We’ve confirmed that keeping families intact can sustain critical relationships during long separations. Time after time, we’ve celebrated the magic that happens when children and parents come together and visitation rooms become child-friendly environments.
St. Barnabas has chosen to be involved in this worthy cause. On May 30th, Members from St Barnabas as well as members from Nipomo Community Presbyterian are getting together to assist in the bringing together children with their fathers at San Luis Obispo Men’s Colony.
This worthy cause has been proven to give hope to the families involved and to also reduce recidivism by encouraging incarcerated men and woman to want to transform their lives.
