Three of our young people have committed to attend this year’s Sierra Service Project (SSP). Dylan Manville will be headed to Stockton, CA to be part of Stockton’s efforts to clean-up their city and provide a positive image of the good things taking place in the community. His work may involve home repairs or working at Boggs Tract Community Farm, whilst one day will be devoted to learning about the city and visiting local nonprofits that are creating positive change. Ethan Manville and Zachary Manos will go to Chiloquin, OR to work with the Klamath Tribes and all members of the Chiloquin community. The Klamath Tribes include Klamath, Modoc, and Yahooskin and do not have any land, but their members primarily live in Chiloquin. Based on the 2010 census, 734 people live in Chiloquin and over 33% of the families live below the poverty line. The cost for each participant to attend is $450, not including travel money that their families provide for snacks and incidentals. If you would like to help sponsor them, please make your check out to St. Barnabas and put “Sierra Service Project” in the memo line. To learn more about SSP visit http://www.sierraserviceproject.org
